I need to get away from the local client installs for SCCS (4.2) and get with the Web Clients (4.5). My vendor is telling me I need to have a separate web server to handle this. Is is blowing smoke, are there other surprises I need to know about? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Depends on how busy your call centre is I guess.

The Web server is much easier and quicker to roll out. We moved away from the 'fat client' as it took an age to download to the desktop (we package our software and deliver via Novell App Launcher). It also makes the scheduling of reports much easier as under the fat client only, you have to leave one client PC logged in all the time. Inevitably, reports don't appear and you spend an age reprinting/trouble shooting etc.

Not sure if you need a separate server though.

Under CC6, you can co-host CCMS (formerly SCCS) and CCMA (formerly SWC), so I'd imagine you could do it under SCCS 4.2 and SWC 4.5. We have separate servers on our sites.

FYI- We have co-resident SCCS/SWC residing on one server today and are currently looking at splitting this up on 2 servers. What we are seeing is issues that are related just to web client and it requires rebooting the server which takes down the call routing/processing piece as well.
