Are there any axctiveX controlers that will control a HP scanner. What I want is the scanner software to open within my program and then auto matically save the value into a field name, with the format FNAME (just the file name).

I don't know, when have VFP7, you can try to look for it with the object browser, and look for all dll’s installed on your machine (where the scanner software is installed) you can look for methods and events in activex components delivered with the scanner software.
