Greetings
I have a new Imac.
Is it possible to run more than one scanner to my system? I have a bucket load of photos that require scanning and I'd like to purchase a second scanner to help with the work load. Is this do-able? Is there any complications that anyone may know about that would be helpful to know about before I drive down this adventurous road?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Denice :)

As with a pc, you would need 2 different brands of scanner since they all use their own program to import the scans and you cannot run 2 versions of the same app at the same time.

Depending on what you have now, you could consider a newer machine that connects via usb2, if your present one uses usb. That improves things somewhat.

I have the Imac G5, running 10.4. The scanner I have now is an HP 3 in one with on screen display. It sends the scanned image directly to photoshop. So I do not use a program for the currently owned scanner that is scanner specific.
Yes I have USB2.0, how does this increase my ods of having two scanners other than utilizing the ports?

The HP uses HP Scan to send the pic to photoshop. The only other way is to have Photshop pick the scanner via TWAIN. In either case you cannot run the same insatnace of the app at the same time.

USB2 has nothing to do with running 2 scanners, just has a faster transfer speed.
