Any body know of any good Scandisk programs for Windows XP???

Just typing CHKDSK won't do anything. The correct way is to open a DOS window and type: CHKDSK/F.

Without the /F chkdsk does nothing. /F tells it to fix the errors on the hard drive it finds.

I tried yours and guess what.. file not found.. Did you know there is supposed to be a space between chkdsk and/f?? Works better that way !!

As for plain old chkdsk, I just finished running it and guess what.. it found and removed two uneeded files. So much for the /f parameter.

And inside XP you can right-click a drive, select Properties > Tools tab > Error Checking &quot;Check Now&quot; box. This results in a Check Disk applet that has options to &quot;Automatically fix file system errors&quot; and to &quot;Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors&quot;.
