I suspected my PC had been hacked,as I have two boys at home that well, you know live on the internet and may have downloaded an infection.

I ran my Anti-virus 2003 ( I have it supported up to 2007 for subscription service).
It found no problems.

So I went to the Symanetic (can never spell that word) and did an online full scan which produced a ton of problems but would not do a fix.

I re-ran the installed version on my PC and again it found no problems (and yes I turned off the restore).

So, What should I do?
Get the latest version of the Anti-virus?
Or take it to my PC tech and let him solve the problems on the list (which I printed out by the way)?

Thanks ahead of time for your replies

ps
I am runnign XP home with service pak 2

Here is a sample of what I got from the on line scan:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\csr.exe is infected with Hacktool.SCKeyLogger

but the on line scan does not 'fix'.

there are more but when I ran the scan from my PC installed version 9.05.15 it found no problems.

Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions

I got something like that some years ago. Norton and adware cannot remove. This spyware was installed under the OS. Have to start from XP install CD and then I ran adware and then norton. Then succeeded.
Can't remember the exact sequence.

Do you think since I have the SP2 installed will have any effect once I put the xp install disk in?

I don't want to have to go thru that hassel again (the sp2) thing.

Or can I go to safe mode or get in via dos?

Thanks

You have spyware, and possibly other viruses also.
Follow my link above. It will cost you nothing other than the download time.

My guess is that it will find at least 2000 instances of spyware problems on your PC

I clicked on the link above and was told it was no longer valid,so I went to the download center and up-graded my anit-spyware from beta a to defender beta 2.

I ran a scan and it only found a couple of problems.

I will re-run the on-line scan from Norton when I have the time tonight after work and see what happened.

Thanks again,
Robert
