Scan disk won't work in safe mode..

I've tried turning off everything and running it in regular mode and didn't work. Then I'm trying to run in safe mode it keeps resetting to 0%.

Have you tried booting from a 95/98 Starup disk? If you don't have one, you can get a floppy image from

I eventually got scandisk to run, and eventually with help from here I found out I was majorly infestd with viruses and spy ware. Norton and spy bot saved the day. I have posted a question about booting from the 95/98 disk into DOS and runnning a DOS program on C:. Can I do this? The floppy drive wasn't working and I needed to run a program only in DOS.

Without a working floppy drive...you could certainly try booting from your hard drive to a command prompt, as long as you're not running Windows ME (which doesn't have that option).

Just hold down the F8 key at startup and you should get the Windows boot menu.
