I inherited this system, running Scalable SQL 3.01 ON NT 3.51 Server, the application is Solomon IV 1.7. I can do everything with Solomon IV, but I can't execute SQL queries or make/modify reports, coz the gentleman before me left without leaving any notes or hints. I don't know the password, I can't use SQLScope to run queries.

I've managed to clear ownership on all the .DAT files, I can dump the data by using BUTIL, I am trying to import the data into PERVASIVE SQL 2000, that looks impossible, it doesn't import it. I am completely lost where to go, any hints, ideas appreciated.

Actually, you shouldn't have to dump the files to get them into Pervasive.SQL 2000i. You should be able to simply copy them to the 2000i server, create a database, and then open them with PCC.

I tried doing that, PCC doesn't recognize the data file, I know the database schema, I created identical table, tried to import from that .DAT file and also BUTIL dump text. PCC wizard doesn't recognize the data structure and it doesn't import. I have the DDF files for the whole database, but those are password protected, I tried to access them using BTSearch, it asks me for 'ownername/password' which I don't know.

I've found a solution, I installed Solomon IV on a windows 95 machine (I use virtual PC for testing) moved only the '.dat' files to the existing database folder and I can access all the data and do everything with it. Pervasive has to do a lot more with compatibility if they want to compete in SQL Server environments.

Actually, compatibility is very good with Pervasive. I know of applications that were developed against Btrieve v5.10 and that data is still accessible to current versions of Pervasive. The key is the application. If the application doesn't maintain proper DDFs/data files then there could be problems. If there's security on the tables, then there's probably a reason the app wants to keep the data within the app.

I was searching the net and saw your question. I am looking for the Scalable SQL 3.01 diskette and I was wondering if I could download it off of you or purchase this item from you. We have solomon 2.06 and we want to move it to a different server but we do not have the disk anymore. I you or anyone could help us please let me know
