I and a college have been experimenting with SBS and our work domain. We have achived making the SBS a BDC and it replicates fine. The user manager shows all the users and server manager shows the computer accounts.

The first problem is you cant log onto the machine with a local account and so cant set the install of the rest of the installation off as it requires local administrator rights. We have tried putting users from the domain in the local admin group but no joy.

Anyone got any thoughts on how to get round this. This is more of an experiment that a business solution.

There are 2 rules with SBS
Rule #1
"Direct from Microsoft" The "Small Business Server" SBS must "ALWAYS" be the PDC PERIOD.

Rule #2
Never forget rule number one.
Rule number one above is correct. Although I was able to get SBS to sort of act like a BDC, it never really did and gave me numerous problems, like what you are experiencing. SBS is PDC only, sorry.
