We have Microsoft SBS 2003 Standard. I would like to add the ISA Server software to it (we have two NICS installed).

Is the best way to do this to upgrade to SBS Premium, or can I just install ISA Server 2004 without messing up the wizards?

LKAlbert,

ISA is really meant to be installed as a standalone MS firewall, similar to Exchange Server as a separate server

SBS is an integrated(all on one Box) to get small business introduced to the MS solutions in the event they get big.

If you wish to run this on a single server, I would get the supported SBS type as the licenses are shared on SBS.

For additional information & I hope clarity you might see this link(this is part 5 but 1-4 can be found here also.

ISAserver.org

Hope this helps.

If you're using any SBS web-based items, you'll really need to get the SBS Premium upgrade. The Premium edition adjusts the SBS wizards to integrate with ISA Server so both are happy.

If you just acquire ISA Server separately, you'll be inviting more time in headaches adjusting each one manually than any price difference would be worth.

Thank you both! It is what I suspected.
