Everything I am able to find suggests that R6+ has a limit of 42 SBM24's on a single IPO. For what it's worth, I'm dealing with R8.1 here.
Does anyone know if this is a hard limit, or more of a soft limit (like number of users that can be put into a paging group)?
Similar to paging groups, I'm sure some number "over the limit" will break things, but for SBM24's I need to understand if that number is 43 or perhaps a little higher.

I do understand the difference between supported and unsupported, knowing that sometimes an unsupported thing actually does work... within limits. :)

Thanks!

The maximum number of button module buttons supported, of any type, on a single system is 1024.

This button module is supported with 9630G, 9640, 9640G, 9650 and 9650C telephones. For IP Office Release 9.0, also supported with 9608, 9611 and 9641. Up to 3 SMB24 modules can be attached to any one phone. For additional limitations see Phone Add-Ons.

• The Class requirement of PoE powered phones may be increased if the phone is used with additional equipment such as a button module.

I honestly don't know if the 42 SMB24 limit is hard or soft... the paging group thing is soft, more a system responsiveness issue.

You'd have to ask Avaya, I think.
