I have installed EMS/SBCE in a virtual environment with a 50 license on a stand alone weblm all v6.3.

First issue I am having is having the SBCE connect to the WebLM it keeps error out I did the Address):52233/WebLM/LicenseServer and all sorts of break downs.

Second I install a device but I am completely confused on setting it up waht IPs go where etc.. and reading the Docs make me more confuse Avaya has no straight forward documents that I came across on the support site.

Also this is a test environment where the SBCE ove has been setup for two dedicated VM NICs. Me assuming 1 for internet and 1 for intranet. So my plan was to put an IP Phone ont the internet side and see if I could connect to the Intranet through the SBC.

Today Makes Tomorrow

Do you get a public ip from the provider??

It does not make sense anyway, other instalations of SBC hiting IP Office instead of Session Manager, works just fine in the same cell phone network.

Since my last post in this thread I still have the same issue w/no audio after a connected call. I have registered this iPhone directly to SM and both registration and audio both work. I need not say how I'm being responded to by my Avaya support team. A few things if someone can guide me if this is correct.. on the SBC under Device Specific Settings / Network Management -- for the A1 interface we have:

IP: 10.xxx.xxx.xxx (private IP)-- Public: 'blank' -- Gateway Override 'blank'

For B1:
IP: 10.xxx.xxx.xx (private IP from our DMZ) -- public: 38.xxx.xxx.xx (public IP from Internet provider) Gateway Override 'blank'

We are doing a 1 - 1 NAT between the IP's for B1. I ran a trace from the SBC and this is the SDP setup (attached)

what is that SDP message from/to?

I'm guessing a softclient that supports every codec under the sun to the SBC?

and, are all ports open in/out on that public IP? your phone's asking for media on 5002, but presumably the SBC won't start doing that until it receives audio from the phone on whatever the SBC offered it in it's SDP.

Media anchoring in the SBC? Check it if possible - it's like "turning off shuffling" in the pbx and can make life a bit simpler.

Can you narrow down the codecs on the client a bit just for the purposes of testing?

What's the result of of your SIP trace? Successful setup and a BYE due to no audio received by a required endpoint (like the SBC or a CM)? Or did the call fail to setup in the sip signaling?

The attached SDP was the first SIP/SDP in the trace, which was the IP of my Apple Iphone to the private DMZ IP of interface B1. Media Anchoring / session policy is at default, which was flagged. the device registers fine from external,,, I successfully make a call connection with another endpoint in the environment, but we cannot hear eachother. From there I just hang up and halt the trace.

What about a PCAP on B1 from the webpage?
Where is the iphone told to send its audio to the SBC at?
It likely isn't getting there.

Ok-- finally. I don't know exactly what fixed it, but the very last 2 changes were I added SDP overwrite in the topology hiding section. had to setup topology hiding to do overwrites For whatever reason I had to setup topology hiding and do overwrites. I added SDP to the other fields I initially setup. Turned back on SIP ALG on the FW and added back the internet public IP in the public IP section of the B1 interface... and of course an application reset. Not sure exactly what kick started this, but now working from external to a different CM. Now have to peel a PRI into my lab CM and test outbound.

One thing is upon answering a call on the mobile device I hear a click and it takes about 3-5 seconds for me to begin hearing the far end.

Hey wpetilli could you share somw images on how you configured Topology Hiding? I am stuck with the same problem you just solved

Sure

Header Criteria Replace Action Overwrite Value
Via IP/Domain Auto ---
Refer-To IP/Domain Auto ---
Referred-By IP/Domain Auto ---
SDP IP/Domain Overwrite john.com
From IP/Domain Overwrite john.com
To IP/Domain Overwrite John.com
Record-Route IP/Domain Auto ---
Request-Line IP/Domain Overwrite John.com

john.com" would be which ip in the path?
and what did you apply that TH to?
Thanks

That domain is the domain associated with my CM (network-region/signaling group) and a domain in my SM. I applied that to endpoint flow.

Juan- If you wanted we can do a screen share and I can go through my screens so you can see what we did. I can't today, but can try and peel time tomorrow. I also believe we disabled SRTP, if that helps.

Thanks!
I engaged Avaya so they can take a look and fix this.
