We are running SBCE version 7.1.3 in an HA pair with a single EMS at our current DR site which will be moving to a new location. The SBCs are connected to AT&T SIP trunking and support remote worker phones.

Can the SBCE HA pairs be separated to work in both locations at the same time in a parallel configuration?

I think you can as long as long as it's layer 2 across. I wanted to do that, but we only run layer 3 between locations and was told it couldn't.

wpetilli,

Thank you as this was my understanding.

If we separate the SBC pairs the standby does not process SIP traffic as the signaling and media interfaces have the same IP address. Additionally the SBC's are synchronized via the heartbeat with the EMS server. Since the public and private IP addresses are used by active SBC can the SBC's be active in two locations at the same time at layer 2?
