This is a weird one folks...when users try to save on their group drive (network drive) The computer hangs and Explorer.exe process crashes.

i am wondering if there are any tools that would assist me in troubleshooting this problem.

here are the details of the issue

Computer crashes after a file (DOC or XLS) has been modified an attempt is made to save it in to G:\Network Services\. This problem is not limited to above folder only. This applies to any place in G:. G: drive is hosted on \\server and it is a DFS share.

Where G: is \\cas-satj.lan\ncr\groups

Scope:

· Saving any DOC or XLS file in G: drive crashes the computer. Saving a TXT file crashes computer (desktop)

· Document opened from U: drive, (size 3MB), saved twice with no problem, third time saving this doc turn it to Read Only. (Is this related issue)

how's that for WEIRD

what would you do??? :)

cheers,

David

thank you for the reply...note that our images do not have this update installed.

If I had been with it, I would have asked - "are you using Norton anti-virus..... and if so, have you disabled office plug-in?

xlhelp,

yes, we are using norton antivirus v.10 (corporate edition)...but i am not sure what you mean by <office plug-in>.

Open Norton AntiVirus; Options button at the top; In the Options dialog, click on Miscellaneous; Clear the check box for "Enable Office Plug-in."; Click OK and close Norton.
