Saving to Pdf in Illustrator

Hello,

In my Illustrator File i have used effects to get the picture I want. Why is it that when I save the ai as a pdf, the effect(scribble) looks nasty when the pdf is opened in acrobat. Is there any way I can achieve the same look my .ai file has in the pdf? (besides importing a jpeg into the ai file then saving as a pdf). Thanks
