When I open Windows Explorer the folder tree displays with the "Documents folder" expanded showing the subfolders. Is there a way to expand the folder tree to a certain look and then have that same look when Windows Explorer opens each time? I personally only want the drive folders on the left side of the screen to show with drive "D" expanded since it is where I store my program and data files. The folder details view on the right side of the screen does save correctly since this forum helped me correct that issue. Thanks and God bless. James

Right-click a blank area of the Desktop, New, Shortcut

As the target of the shortcut type:
explorer.exe /e,d:

Finish the Wizard.

Now click it and tell me if that is what you wanted. There are several options available, and I want you to see how each works.

That is very close to what I am looking for and a definite improvement ovrewhat I had. What I want is for the look of the folder tree to be saved however it is expanded on the left pane of the Windows Explorer window, so that when I close Windows Explorer and reopen it the view will be expanded to the exact same folder. On my old Windows 98 SE I could expand the tree to a specific folder and then close Windows Explorer. I could come back a few minutes later or a week later and open Windows Explorer and it would be expanded to the exact same folder I was working with last. That is what I am attempting to accomplish now. (Aren't you glad you don't live next door to me?) I really appreciate all the help you are giving me. Thanks and God bless, James

Open Explorer and configure the left panel as you wish. Then close Explorer a special way: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+mouse click at top right on the red X.

Test.
