I am trying to get a copy of the Job Summary/Detail for documentation purpose.

At Job Status Window, I did right-click the Job Detail, which gave me a pop-up window and Print option; which I 'Print' to a file. But when trying to open the file to edit it, instead of a text file, I got a file with all the print control char.

Can someone advised me how to get a 'text' copy of the Job Summary/Detail which I can edit. Alternatively, which software can I used to open the 'print' file as a text file so that I can edit it. Thanks.

Look in the Arcserve-Folder on the server. There is a folder called Log. In this Folder you can find the Job Summary/Detail for each Job in a textfile called J******.log. You can identify the correct logfile only by the date the file was created.

Thanks. I looked at these j****.log file, it has the summary but not the information I need. I have multiple folders (but not all) within a drive which is backed up, and I want the names of these folders. Exactly what is shown in Job Detail; but in the j**.log, it only group them as E$, without the individual folders name.

Hi,

This is how you do it...

do to start\setting\printers\addprinter
Next
select Local printer
on the screen "Use the following port"
scroll down to the bottom and select
File : Print to File
Next
Next
Enter Printer Name E.g Fileprint
Do not set this as the default ptinter
Next
Next
Next
Finish

Now on the Job status screen in the ARCserve manager..
Select the job detail you want to print to a file...

Right click and choose print ..
Select the printer you just added (e.g Fileprint)..

You will be prompted to enter the output file name...

E.g c:\fileprint.txt

The job detail will be printed to that file as text...

Enjoy...
