you can create function libraries (UFLs) which are C or VB or whatever functions saved in a DLL wrapper that Crystal read and understands...there are others out there who can explain this a lot better than I...
your other alternative is to wait until 9.0 comes out which has a Repository that stores in a database functions etc that are accessible to your reports as well...and saves the possible expense of creating a DLL that then has to be given to users of the report
