Saving files from CD-ROM using flash

I'm working on a stand-alone application for CD-ROM that needs to run from a flash projector, without using director. The main issue I'm having is trying to allow users to save data for use at a later date.
Is there anyway for flash to create and store a .txt file on the user's machine for them to retrieve, perhaps for use on a different machine?

I've looked into Shared Objects, but they don't allow the user to transport the data.
Also app's such as Flash Studio and SWF Studio look promising but don't have any MAC support, which makes it difficult to use on a widely distributed CD-ROM.

The CD-ROM will house a collection of images and the goal is to let the users create a slide show/presentation on the cd that they can then load up (perhaps from a different machine) that shows which images they selected along with custom settings, notes, ect.

ok then this is no problem, all you want to do then is create a parameter file, listing image names, settings and whatnot? If this is the case it is very simple. Let me find a previous post about this and direct you. One minute.

Thanks for the help Lumstar, but as I stated in my original post, Shared Objects won't work in this case.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to allow the user to save a file to a certain path and then allow them to retrieve it for use on another computer using shared objects.
Plus they have a small file size limit.
