saving drafts

Simple question but I can't find the answer in Help. How can I keep a message in draft without it being deleted when I send it? (Notes 5)

I had it set up this way but now it doesn't work.

Once you have sent a message it is no longer a draft, you can save a copy in a sent message folder by setting the tick-box in user preferences.

I have several messages in my Draft’s folder that I use quite often; I simply copy and paste them into the same folder, then send the copies. It works for me ... and I always have the original.
