Hi,

I have many Oracle backups using RMAN which recognise the
NSR_SAVESET_EXPIRATION but they seem to change from 'browseable'
to 'recoverable' once the value in the Networker client definition has
passed (mine is set to 14days)

I have read that it's possible to modify the browse and retention using nsrmm -S ssid -e expiration -w browsetime.
I tried this and the mminfo shows that the ssretent and
ssbrowse are now set correctly but if you view the savesets
in the GUI under 'Volumes' they are still showing as 'recoverable'

Does anyone know how to get Networker to update this so
that it ties in with whats in mminfo ?

Thanks
Trevor

You have to use the "scanner" command

1) find the ssid and the tape using mminfo
(and the file number if you don't want to wait...)
2) mount the tape
3) scanner -i -S<ssid> -f<filenum> \\.\Tapen

(see for tips)

I would not really count on the GUI - it probably needs to
be refreshed or restarted. The command line is what counts.

Hi,

Thanks to you both for your advice.
I found out from our software support people that there's
an RMAN parameter that you can set (in the RMAN script)
NSR_BROWSE

Having added this and tried a backup I can see that it's setting the browse time correctly.

Hope this advice will be of use to others.

Regards
Trevor
