We put 2 clients using savepnpc command in one group, but the commands are run on both machines at the same time (with consequence that both DB's are stopped).

Can we schedule the group, so that the Precmd on the 2nd client is run only AFTER the end of the backup and the Pstcmd of the second machine ? ("serializing" of the machines).
I cannot be sure that the backup of the 1st one ends at a known time. Split up in 2 groups is thus not a solution.

client: NW 6.1.4 on Windows NT 4
NW server: 7.1.1 on Solaris 9

Thanks in advance

E. Tahon

You may try to achieve this using the client's priority attribute. For more info, please use the online help.

You could put them in different groups and start the second group from the savegroup notification of the first group. That would work.

If you do call it from the savegroup completion, make sure you build error checking into the script.

As an alternative, if you run any kind of enterprise level scheduler, you should be able to have commands dependent on the previous commands success/failure.
