savefs: RPC error: Unable to send

I get this error when testing the backup using :
savegrp -pvc (servername) "Groupname"

This server is on the same subnet as the backup server itself. I have reloaded Networker,verified Speed and duplex on both sides of the network, hosts file edited and pointing to the right servers.
Any help would be great............

Using DNS? Check the address is correct - ping the address, alias to verify.

A prerequisite for a successful automatic backup is the manual backup initiated at the client using the "save" command.

Execute it like "save -s server -vvv /etc" and evaluate the output.

Hi,

Usually these issues point to a DNS / network problem.

Make sure you can do the following.

Server
Ping client IP
ping server IP
ping clientName.plusDomain name
ping serverName.PlusDomain name

Client
Ping client IP
ping server IP
ping clientName.plusDomain name
ping serverName.PlusDomain name

Make sure the hosts file is correct.
Unix it is in /etc/
NT it is in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
