Hello all,

The questions is about setting up computers with XP pro in a lab:

Is it possible to allow users to just save on a particular folder, say "Temp Files" and NOT on desktop or anywhere else?

Also, is it possible to enable/disable the desktop - i.e. hide the items in the desktop so it appears blank.

Thank you.

Here is Desktop .

Right click on desktop , Arrange , untick > Show desktop .

Jmatt,

Thanx for the info. One question: How do you stop the users from changing the settings .... or the right click.

I mean I created a user account (limited account). But they can still change it back by "Show Desktop Items".

I know there's a way to disable right click. How do you do that?

Thank you.

If this is a domain create a GPO or if this is not a domain and you wish to disable this locally , while logged on as admin...

start menu | run | poledit.msc

Can even use the Group policy Editor.
