Hi,

does it possible to save and restore the local group on a windows 2000 server standalone?

thanks you,

regards,

Guillaume.

Moving local groups from server1 to server2 isn't easily possible. However, the ADMT (Active Directory Migration Tool) tool might do this for you.

thank you for this reply.
In fact it isn't really possible, because the group SID depend of the server.

regards,

Yeah...a lot of admins make the mistake of using local server groups instead of domain based groups. MS recommends using Domain Local Groups to apply security to resources. Place Users in global groups - Place Global groups in Domain Local Groups -- and use domain local groups to apply security.
