Trying to use the System Security Center to rollout the SAV to XP systems. I know it works cause I've done it before. But for this particular client, I can't see any workstations on the network to deploy to. Nothing shows up.

Systems are installed with their defaults. No windows firewall configured on them, they are all defined as 'workgroup'. Even in Windows Explorer, it waits a long time and finally comes back with an error.

Is there something that would be blocking this ability to browse? It's a TCP only environment.

It sounds like there's no name resolution. Really, plugging all the cables into each other does not a network make.

Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Is the Management Server a part of the Workgroup? If you can't see the workstations in Explorer then there's definately a communication problem. If all workstations are running the same OS or 2000 and above, TCP should be standard.

dark.. no kidding.

I guess the problem had to do with some other Win servers being part of other groups besides 'workgroup', so once that was corrected, things started to work better.
