SAV 10.1 no showing clients 1

I recently installed SAV CE 10.1 on a Windows XP Professional PC to act as the server for 10 client PC's. The install went well and I was able to do a remote antivirus install on the 10 clients. I had a problem in that none of the clients were updating from the server and the server was not showing any clients. I thought the server was configured correctly to update the clients at random times but that never happened.

Assuming I might have made a mistake during the first install, I uninstalled the server and reinstalled with the same results as the first install - no clients. I have opened port 1041 on the server firewall to no avail. I can see the clients when I audit the network; however, some clients show that they are unmanaged.

Any ideas on what might be wrong here?

try making sure that the clients have the root certificate of the server and vice versa.

Copy the server certificate from c:\program files\symantec\pki\root
to the same location in the root folder on the client pc.
Then copy the certificate that belongs to the client in the directory that you just copied the server cert. to the root folder on the server.
