SAU Mismatch

I have a MEX card that was shipped back to me. The problem was when I received it I found it had a rough trip. The SAU 9 pin right angle connector had been broken off of the board (the SAU still screwed in) and the front black metal bent badly. The battery had been thrown out of its socket.

I corrected everything and put the card back to normal, put the battery in and everything booted up fine. But after a few minutes I get the error of "SAU - Mismatch". When the system comes on-line it prints on the screen the correct SAU number, so where is the problem? Did the falling out of the battery cause a problem or can an SAU get damaged so as to not be known by the system. Please let me know if anyone has ideas of the possible solution

I replied on the other forum but for the benefit of all......


SAU Mismatch means that the operating system software cannot see the physical SAU.

The physical SAU has a coded serial number in it. The software on the flash card has the same number coded in it. When the system starts, the software checks to see if there is an SAU plugged in and if it matches what the software is.

You will see the SAU number in the PI regardless of whether the physical SAU is plugged in because this is written in the software.

It appears that the damage to the card means that even if you have the SAU plugged in, it is not being recognised by the software.

You have 14 days to fix this other wise the system will shut down!! Get a replacement MEX, plug the flash card and SAU into it and away you go.

Just to close this off, I got a hold of another MEX card, and put the Flash and SAU on it, and all is OK, so somewhere on this card, that had the damaged SAU connector is the problem. So I will be looking at that to see if I can find the problem,
