The OS is Vista. The laptop is missed up. It won't reboot (stuck in reboot loop). I tried to use the recovery CD (privided by Toshiba) to go back to factory install. I set it to boot from CD. It looks like it did reboot from the CD. Then the screen went blank. I started to get worried that the system is hung. But then I noticed that the HD light was flashing. So I waited. And evetually the screen was showing 2 choices "Toshiba recover or windows recover, something along these lines..). I chose the default, and the screen went blank again. I have been waiting for about an hour now, and nothing happened. The HD is not falshing now. I am getting ready to give up. Or should I wait a little more. This damn thing does not give you any progress bar or anything. I am not sure what to do next. I am thinking to abort (ctrl-alt-del??

Either option would have shown you some video output of what it was doing and not be blank.

Is there any chance the video card or screen is going bad. Try using an external monitor and using the function keys (or whatever method) to switch over to the external to see if something is happening.

If you're still waiting, power down and try again. Just hold the power button until it shuts off, should be fine.

Tony
