SATA Vs. SCSI 3

What are the differences between SATA and SCSI drives?
We have a server running on SCO unix with a 4.0gig drive.
We are in the process of buying a new server with Raid 1.
Would SATA drive be as good as SCSI? Are there any
disadvantage or tradeoffs?

Yeah, speed. May not be able to get drivers to work with SCO.

But then again, you may not be able to get your version of SCO to load on the new hardware.

I have worked on both scsi and ide raids. Because SCSi has been around so long in the server enviornment I believe staying with a scsi hard drive is the best answer. There are many technical reasons but the best is longevity and reliablity when it comes to a long term stable server. The Sata drives are quick but the scsi drives are quick and very stable. As a administrator I have had both hard drives systems and ran SCO systems. The scsi system makes more sense, Good Luck
