SATA Drivers for Gigabyte MB? (XP install) 1

I have been searching through the forums (and the internet) to find the correct way to install XP PRO 64 bit on a SATA drive. I am having no real luck getting it to work.
My Scenario:
I have (2) IDE drives and (1) SATA drive. The SATA is a slave drive (SATA enabled) and works fine. I want to upgrade from XP PRO 32 bit to XP PRO 64 Bit and utilize the SATA drive as the Main Drive.
When I try the install...my SATA drive is not recognized as a bootable drive.

I have tried (f6) with a floppy that was created by the MAXBLAST 4. I have tried getting drivers from Gigabyte. Nothing seems to be accepted as drivers when I (f6) during install.

Can anyone direct me in the correct way to set this up? I am running out of options.

You didn't specify what mobo mdl you have but this is a link to Gigabyte fot their GA-K8N51PVMT-9 mobo with Chipset drivers with SATA drivers for XP 64bit. This should be what you are seeking. I do not envision MaxBlast4 being capable of dicerning what chipset you are using.

Oops!
My Mobo is a GA-K8VM800M.

I have d/l the drivers...I just can't get them to install with the floppy. I mean after pressing (f6) during the installation.

I do not have a Gigabyte mobo but the SATA routine is similar for other brands.

Make sure that the floppy has all of the needed files. As your download included drivers for many other items you must locate the correct set of files.

If there's a makedisk program, you can and probably should use that to create the driver floppy. If not, look for the file "txtsetup". Windows Setup looks for this file on the floppy to tell it what drivers are available for it to load. If you're in a folder with that file, then you're probably looking in the right place.

What I have for a SiliconImage Raid Controller:

Check to see if the download has a "makedisk" app. if not insure that you have a similar set of files.

I had a similar problem where It wouldn't recoginise the hard drive , While using a Seagate SATA drive , and Asus A8V-Deluxe

the only way I could get it to work , Was to jumper the SATA drive to SATA only mode (New to me!,Sata never needed a jumper before!) , Then it worked fine , Didn't need the F6 drivers or anything...
