I wish to use SAP via Citrix

It works fine if I do it over the LAN, but I got problems when using GPRS.

The logon sceen comes up fine, but when the initial screen with the SAP log, and fancy grafic arrives, the application stop. It can´t work with this grafic. Is there any solution to get the grafic to dissapear?
Is there any settings in the ICA client that will make the update forget about the 200 pictures that are send in 0ne second?

Need a solution please

There is a way to change the graphic (and thus make it a blank picture if that is what you want). Unfortunately, I do not know it. I will ask my SAP group and see if they can help me. We have discussed making this change on our system, but thus far, all of our SAP/Citrix users have good enough connections that it hasn't really created any issues.

I have found it. You can take the splash of with a setting in the Regedit.
Local machine\software\Sap\general\Appereance\splashoff
change the value to 1

But thanks for the effort.

But if anybody has a couple of advice, then please share. Because I am not impressed withthe speed.

I have successfully managed to run SAP over both GSM and GPRS networks - with good performance. If you are going to use GPRS I really would recommend using Web Interface, this will allow you to create a seperate site for GPRS users. By using Web Interface you can customise the ICA Template to provide a set of strings and tweaks to combat latency issues which is the problem you are experiencing.

We use GPRS and Citrix internally for users on the move - with good experiences.

What version of Citrix and Feature Release are you using - ideally you need to be running at least FR2 on XP.

Hope this helps.

I use MFe with FR3. I will use one seperate server to run the Citrix SAP clilent. So I can tweak as much as possible.

I was talking to a SAPdude, and he sad that using the ITS server, all you updated on the screen would be the text field, not the graphics. He thought Citrix would not make it faster. I would like to prove him wrong.

I have read that you can set the MTU size. But how big should it be. My first guess was it should be low, but I have just read that GPRS works best with a MTU at 1500.

I will not use a web interface(NFuse), but I thought you could change the settings in the ICA client. Please explain a bit more about what a options the web interface will give me.

Thanks

Hi,

Apparently, the MTU will be read from the first device on the switch, so 1500 is the being Ethernet, I've recently added EnablePMTUDiscovery and set it to 1

Also, if you do add MTU, ensure that you put it in the Adapters\?????? registry key not the tcpip\parameters area!

Have you done anything with KeepAlives and TcpMaxDataRetransmissions?

Cheers,
Carl.

"I've recently added EnablePMTUDiscovery and set it to 1"

Is this set ont the switch or the server or the router or on the clients PC....
I found this
Does this enhance the speed, or is it only for security check.

"Put it in the Adapters\ "
? I need more info n that one please :)
Where are these adapters... I am not a network man.
