Hi I'm Trying to installing SAP BW 3.1 in our test machine We are using AIX 5.1 as our OS, the problem is after executing SAPINST and answering the parameters needed to create the user nand where to install the sap software. In the part where will be the home of database admin and where the instance will be installed after answering the said parameter, a gui window prompt and asking where will be the host to connect to install the software.

and saw in the log segmentation fault? just want to ask if anyone encountered this also thanks in advance ..

What version of Java are you using to do the install ? The SAP install DOC specifically says to not use the 1.1.1.8 version I think.

thanks for response i solved my inquiry i need to command ulimit in the shell that i will use for the installation thanks ...

I have same problem. I tried to set the ulimits to unlimted but I still have the same problem. I have made the ulimit field as blank.

Can you please give the deatiled steps that you have performed to resolve this problem including the commmands for ulimit and tell me for which users have you set the ulimits.

Thanks in advance

writ this command in the shell where you will run the sapinst ulimit -s unlimited and ulimit -d unlimited

Hi,
I do this a lot, and its usually because I forgot to check the user settings for the sidadm, or orasid users. specifically core, stack, data segment etc as defined in the o/s dependencies guide for your product.

Hi again,

The BW IDES install notes are not as clear as they could be. Ive only just managed to get the SAPINST started, and now its asking me to 'Select a profile' What profile? I pointed the browser to any old file and it rejects it saying its not the DEFAULT.PFL file. The only DEFAULT.PFL file on my system is to do with my SAP R/3 installation. I have now reluctantly pointed it to the DEFAULT.PFL file but its saying it cant find an INSTANCE_NAME in the file. Am i messing up my R/3 here...?

Any help will be appreciated.

Who's that girl! :)
