SAP 4.6B installation on WIN NT Error after 72% completed

Dear friends,

I am installing sap 4.6b on win NT with service pack 3.0 and database is oracle 8.0.5.0 with patch 8.0.5.2.2 on my home PC.

During installation when i installed oracle patch, system asking me to run some sql scripts file with server manager svrmgr30. when i started svermgr30 its not working.
eror is: ORA-12203 TNS: unable to connect to destination.
i tried but can't run sql scripts.

But Oracle TNSlistner 80 service working properly.

Then without running this scripts i started to install sap. At the 72% of Installation I am getting error and installation is aborted and display the error message.
message looks like that

Error: DBR3LOADEXEC_NT_ORA R3loadPrepare
Child exited with error: rc = 2
child_pid = 1

See logfile log for further information

I tried alot but disspointed every time.
Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!.

Make sure you are not doing the installation over terminal services, also try typing this command at the dos prompt before you launch svrmgr30.

set local=<SID>

Here are somethings that are going on.
1. The database has not been created yet.
the R/3 install failed before it executed that section.

2. Use Service pack 6a for NT

3. Have you updated the DLL's yet? The updates should be on the R/3 kernel disk

4. The scripts won't run because the DB has not been created.

5. Look at the documents disk and go through the install instructions with great care.

i installed Service pack 6 and typed command at the dos prompt before launch svrmgr30.

set local=<SID> .

But Its not helped me.
I think that my oracle not installed properly bcoz svrmgr30 not working properly .what should i do. Pls suggest me.

Even I am facing similar problem, the only diff being, that I am using windows 2000 Advance Server with SP3, I can go up to 69% and exits with errors. I have tried what you have suggested in this thread. But no Success.

for installation of SAP r3 on windows/windows advanced server just follow the following procedure then u will not come across to any problem. I faced similar one earlier and rectified useing the following proc.

1. install windows2k or Adv server.
2. install service pack 2, 3, 4 for 2k server or all patches for Nt server.
3. install ie6 with service pack.
4. install all critical patches form microsoft update.
5. create users <sid>adm, SAPService<SID> and givem them passwords, and keep user will never expair, and give admin privileges.
6. create groups SAP_<SID>_GlobalAdmin, SAP_<SID>_LocalAdmin, SAP_LocalAdmin and attach the above users to this group.
7. install oracle 817 with all latest patches.
8. oracle will create ORA_DBA group in windows attach the sap users to this group.
9. go to windows root \system32\drivers\etc edit the host file
(your machine ipaddress say for example)
192.168.0.1 <machine name> SAPTRANSHOST
parameter below 127.0.0.1 localhost
and save the file. and test it by ping.
10. update the windows 2k with the patch provided in the kernal cd of SAP.
11. Install the mmc in sap kernal cd.
12. now start the actual installation of sap from common folder of sap kernal cd.

If you follow the above steps there will not be any errors.
I did atleast 10 installations with same procedure.
No error.
