A new customer has had their Mxe die.
When i say die i mean , it doesn't boot past SDRAM CS1 March Test.

As the customer is in a hurry and had the money to spend, we are replacing the system and hoping to just move the hard drive from the old box to the new box.

As we did not install the system and came across it once it had already died, we are unsure of software release and obviously we have no back up.

Putting the hard drive in the new box, it will not load from the partition.
We have changed the file name to: /partition4/RTC8260

how ever we are still getting an error and the system reboots.
Below is a cut and past of the boot process leading to the error.
If someone could help me get the hard disk to boot in the new box or at least extract the data in a usable format from the hard disk. It will save me a lot of time and energy in building the system from scratch.
Thanks in advance.

Probably should have said, No Redundant hard drive and No RAID controller.

Change the bootline to boot via ftp, point it to a load you know. When the system comes up, then you can halt it and check the drive to see what is there.

WORK SMART NOT HARD

FixPartition will format the hard drive! The original poster does not have a backup and was hoping to get the system running.

I have never taken a hard drive out of one system and directly into another for the purpose that you describe, so I am not aware of any pitfalls or requirements. But I do know that FixPartition will erase everything you have, which may be unavoidable at this point.

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Hmmm, one thing i would recommend is clone that disk. A utility called g4u or any sector by sector util should do the trick.

Then, I wondering if an in place software upgrade could get you back in action. I'm thinking very off the top of my head.

Thanks for the brain storming guys,

Ended up that i had it in the wrong Hard drive bay, dumb.

Still had a few issues when it booted from the hard drive though ie, would occasionally fail booting because the DSP card would not load.

Managed to get a backup though (thank god)

Did a fresh software install, loaded backup, good as gold.

Thanks again
