I have 4 text fields that contain data from free format fields. With the table these fields are labeled as Text1, Text2, Text3, and Text4. Also in the same table there is a text type field named TextType. This field distinguishes the type of data contained within the text fields mentioned above.

When trying to pull in the text fields above for both texttype 70 and text type 72, i run into issues. Only field 70 shows up within the report.

How do I configure crystal to include the text fields for both these testtypes into the same report? Any ideas?

Sounds like it should be simple but Im stumped.

What command are you using? Or are you doing it with table links?

With Crystal, it is easy to exclude data by making an 'equals' link. I've done it myself and had to learn to use 'left outer', which allows for record A not having a corresponding record B. Is that it?

Unfort. no

My problem seems to be this.

I have records stored in numerous tables.

For Record A. I have Data Objects 1 2 3 4 5 and 6

Data Objects 1 2 3 4 are in the table named ssInstructions
Data Objects 5 6 are in the table name ssTextInformation

Data Objects 1 2 3 4 are all within the same fields text1 text2 text3 and text 4 and Text type helps determine which data object these fields are relating to.

Data Objects 5 6 are both within the same fields text1 text2 text3 and text4 and Text Type helps determine which data object these fields are relating to.

Example of what I need.

Template1

Ordering Customer Line1 (ssInstructions.Line1 Texttype= 50)
Ordering Customer Line2 (ssInstructions.Line2 Texttype= 50)
Ordering Customer Line3 (ssInstructions.Line3 Texttype= 50)
Ordering Customer Line4 (ssInstructions.Line4 Texttype= 50)

Account Info Line1 (ssInstructions.Line1 Texttype= 57)
Account Info Line2 (ssInstructions.Line2 Texttype= 57)
Account Info Line3 (ssInstructions.Line3 Texttype= 57)
Account Info Line4 (ssInstructions.Line4 Texttype= 57)

Remittance Info Line1 (ssTextInformation.Line1 Texttype=70)
Remittance Info Line2 (ssTextInformation.Line2 Texttype=70)
Remittance Info Line3 (ssTextInformation.line3 Texttype=70)
Remittance Info Line4 (ssTextInformation.line4 Texttype=70)

Sender Info Line1 (ssTextInformation.line1 Texttype = 72)
Sender Info Line2 (ssTextInformation.Line2 Texttype = 72)
Sender Info Line3 (ssTextInformation.Line3 Texttype = 72)
Sender Info Line4 (ssTextInformation.Line4 Texttype = 72)

If I produce the report with just the information from ss.instructions underneath the Template name I receive all the information from that table correctly.

If I produce the report with just the information from ssTextInformation underneath the Template name I recieve all the information from that table correctly.

If I pull both group of Information into the report I receive all the information from ssInstructions correctly but I only receive one of the fields from ssTextInformation.

Awkward. I've found that Crystal sometimes fails with complex links. So unless someone can suggest a better fix, you could try using a subreport for one of the links. (Use Search to get details of subreport usage, if you don't already know them.) Subreports make a lot of work for computers, but save time for humans. You decide which is more important for your particular circumstances.

It helps to give your Crystal version, since newer versions have extra options, and some extra problems. I use Crystal 8.5.
