I want to create multiple books in QuarkXpress 4.1 from 25 to 30 "stock" Quark files. Each stock file will be used in more than one book. That is the problem with Quark. It wants to duplicate each stock file and rename it every time it is used. That won't do because when I update a stock file, I will have to find all instances of it and make the same change to all of them. I want to be able to update a stock file one time and have it update every book the file is used in.

Is there any extension that allows Quark to do this?

Dear LBF

I did it myself, and it worked.

Let me explain what I did. I took 10 quark files for this.
I created a book(one), and added all the 10 quark file into it. Then I created another book(two), and added 3 out of 10 quark files to that book, plus some other quark files (with same trim size).
Then I modified the common files (for both books). Using Book(two) palette. Then I opened Book(one) palette. The modified files showed status "modified", and the changes I made were there. Everything was all right.

What I think, you were trying to add same file to same book. Of course then you have to make a copy of that file.

Please respond.
