After installing Samba using the Bull's freeware install, which completed successfully, I tried to test using the smbclient and received the following error. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
# /usr/local/bin/smbclient -L servername
exec(): 0509-036 cannot load program /usr/local/bin/smbclient because of the following err
0509-150 Dependent module libreadline.a(libreadline.so) could notbe loaded.
0509-022 cannot load module libreadline.a(libreadline.so).
0509-026 system error: Afile or directory in the path name does not exist.

I am running AIX 4.3.3 with Samba-2.2.1a

I recently downloaded SAMBA version 2.0.7 and it installed without problem. It appears that you need the "libreadline" fileset. I have no idea where you would get that from, I'd check the Bull site and see if they have any other install packs.

I know that when I installed VNC I needed the zlib fileset just to install.

Also, did your version 2.2.1a come as a bff fileset to install, or did you need to compile it on your server? Einstein47

I did not have to compile, it came as an install binary

Try to install Samba 2.0.7, it work fine!!
I can send you the binary file via mail if you want.
I have some good link for installing it!

LeDam Thank you I will try the 2.0.7 version I think I still have it around

LeDam,I will take that email I do not have it any longer ktrumbla@ford.com
