Hi,

I have a sparc5 and just installed samba.

I have a win98 box which can open the sparc in network neighborhood, I have access to the shared folders, one read, one read/write.

I can see a shared printer. I can install it as network printer and print to it.

Nothing prints. Traffic is going somewhere by looking at the hub. No errors on win98. If I print to it from the sparc it works.

My printcap file is all wrong and I don't know what should go in it.

My smb.conf with regards to printers may be wrong.

Thanks,

David

I got it working, I think it was two things. The device name, I changed it from lp1 to lp in the printcap file.

Also the HP 932c driver will not work on the win machine over the network.

I changed it to a 870Cse and it works good.

Then I changed the device name to lp388, my printers name in solaris. Still works.

Is lp a link to the default printer?

One other problem with printer.

I am getting a header page that prints at the beginning of every job. I can't figure out where it's coming from.

In admintool I turned it off. I printcap I have :sh:sf

Hi

Try to open file /etc/lp/interfaces/<name of printer> and there must be a entry nobanner=no, put it at yes and it should be good.

Tell me your result.
