I am looking for the best way to use a Samba-based logon script to map drives based on group membership. The equivalent on the Windows side is the IFMEMBER utility from the Resource Kit. If there a Samba utility or script that accomplishes the same thing? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

i've written a Software that makes what you want.
It creates Login-Scripts, depending on the User and Groupmembership at Logon.
Just have look at This Page is only available in german, for the moment, sorry.

If Samba is running as the Primary Domain Controller then you should be able to use the following syntax to force a group logon script for all users (put this in the [global] section of the smb.conf):

logon script = %g

This will run a logon script called the same as the users primary group. I have not tried this personally but think that in theory it should work OK. This logon script will of course run from the [netlogon] share.

Lee.
