I want to know if there are any good documentation sites for newbies to Samba and Wine. I have know idea how to set the up etc and I really want to move from Win98 to Linux full time but can't without these components installed and properly configured. I am currently running OpenLinux 2.2.3. I tried to download and install an rpm of wine but I keep getting errors saying there are unsatisfied dependencies....something to do with glibc2.1 so.6. I have no idea what this is!

I have successfully installed Samba...but do not know how to configure the smb.conf file or what to expect once the Samba server starts. Will I be able to access files on the Linux machine from a Win 98 machine?
Any directions will be much appreciated....including any suggestions on some good reading material.
Mark Sargent
sargent@getadvanced.net
<a href=
Don't have much time right now; but you might check to see if the URLs: <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> or <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> or <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> or <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> point to some usefull info; that's usually my first approach. Then you could try going through <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> to find the other info.
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net

*nix installation & program collector/reseller. Contact me if you think you've got one that I don't :)

Those sites don't work.

Try <A HREF=" TARGET="_new">
I got samba working great by editing smb.conf

Always remember to restart the smb daemon by going entering

/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb restart

Also make the domain for your workgroup in all CAPITAL LETTERS (it works better)
