I have set Samba up and works great with my workgroup, question I have is what if you are running domain, do you place the domain name in the WORKGROUP section of smb.conf file? If not how do you get it to work with a domain instead of workgroup or will it work the same. Thanks

You do place the domain name in the same place as the workgroup. There is a very good HOWTO collection on the Samba website ( which explains how to do it. You will need to set "security = domain" and several other things. You may also want to use winbind so that Linux can use Windows authentication for user accounts.

Hello,

if you want, you can try my Software.
There is a complete Example as PDC, and you can create
User and Machine-Accounts too.

Sorry, this Site is only available in german, at the Moment.
