Sales Distribution hitting two COG Accounts

We recently have changed our system to track sales via Item. I have entered all new GL numbers for each Class ID that our Items are assigned to. A smart list was written to identify the open orders and the Cost of Sales Account number and the Sales Account number were changed to the new/correct GL number in the Sales Line Item Distribution Entry window.
We thought we had changed all the open orders, but we are finding a few that were missed. The problem is that the Cost Of Sales is hitting both the new GL account number and the old account number. If you total the quanities together it is the correct amount, but we do not understand why it is splitting up between the accounts. We "assumed" that it would all hit the acoount number that was listed in the Sales Line Item Distribution WIndow since that was the GL number that was available when the order was taken.
Can someone explain to us why the system is reacting this way. Thanks.

Do you happen to use the Manufacturing module and GP9? We've had issues with our posting COGS (especially for services which shouldn't post to COGS at all) and had to open a case with MS- ends up Manufacturing was the culprit. We were able to determine this by;
1) re-create the posting issue in Test Company
2) go to Tools > Customize > Customization Status and Disable the Manufacturing module
3) follow the same steps in 1, if all posts correctly then it is because of Manufacturing module

If you have other modules, you can use the same steps above (disable a module and try posting) to determine if any of them are affecting the posting process.

BTW: our issue won't be fixed for GP9 so we have to continually correct these after posting (Journal Entry)

by chance are the entries in questy from sales orders that have multiple line #'s?

when you say you created gl accounts for all your class ID's, did you roll down class changes to all items?

I'd hazard a guess that some of your items have gl accounts specified to their cogs account differently than from what your class ID's have set up.
