I have a problem with syncronisation from remote sites to a main ACT database. Our company uses broadband for all its connections. ACT seems to connect to the server from the remote site then basically hang I cannot even exit ACT as it is syncronising with main database. The only way to get out of the program is to Terminate it from the task manager! I do not have this problem at the main site - I have checked all the settings! Could this be a bandwidth or latency issue? If anyone could help It would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried leaving it to see if it's just taking a long time?

How are you syncing - Internet, Network (via VPN)?

What version of ACT!? With 9, you can have sync set to not sync attachments if you like. There are other ways also.

Hello there! Its sage ACT! PREMIUM WORKGROUPS EX we are using standard broadband (8MB up 424 down) with static IP'sS no VPN or anything like that. Any further help would be appreciated.

Are you using Application, Network or Internet sync?

424 what down?

That might be the issue... If the same connection speeds at server and remotes, then the connection will be at the slowest of up/down divided by the number of connections

If you have a lot of Attachments, you can have them excluded from the sync

Application Sync. Sorry I mean't 8mb down 424 up. So you think it could be very bad speed.

If both remote and server have 424k uploads, then any connection between the two can only be at 424k. So any bit attachments can only be sent at that speed (slower if the server is uploading anything else).

If you remove the attachments from sync, you can always copy the suplimental files when users come into the office
