in 300 can you convert two foreign currency among themselves without converting them to the functional first

scenario : Functional currency is USD

1) I generate GBP invoice with payable invoice screen i apply the rate there is no issue at this stage

2) Now on payment i have CAD dollars bank account to pay for my GBP invoice .
i apply invoice rate for GBP invoice to USD
bank rate for CAD payment to USD

Question: is there a way to convert GBP to CAD without converting back to USD ?

You can pay a GBP invoice from a CAD bank. The currency conversion is not relevant since you enter the actual CAD paid as per the bank.
All transactions need to be converted back to functional currency in the GL, so it must convert to USD.

what do we do in case the currency rate is key .Since we are capturing a previous exercise data and client will like to get the exchange gain figure right with what is on the Audited TB

You enter the source amount (GBP) and the translated amount (CAD) and Sage will calculate the exchange rate.
The source amount (GBP) and translated amount (CAD) are two given numbers, the rate is simply one divided by the other.

Do we have an option to enable the payment Amount Field so amount could be captured straight and system handle the Rate ?

There are no such options. You need to accept how it works, Sage's multicurrency processing has been one of its strengths for many years.
