Imaginary Scenario ---- Lim 1 is down and the hard disk is faulty. (no i/o commands are possible) In 'Alex'it states that you remove the faulty hard disk and replace it with the safety backup disk, having moved the strap to Sipos 3. Does this work - has anyone ever done it. On a recent training course I was told it was best to create a spare mirror image backup disk and store it off site.

Hi Whosrdaddy, please confirm - you replace the system HDU with the safety HDU (iodev=safety-hdu) - and you've used it to reload the system?
Cheers

I am not sure that it only works with IPU. I just did a test in our LAB with NIU (BC11SP12) and it works fine !!!

this is all ok provided your safety backup is uptodate

I think whosrdaddy meant revision ? R14A is the latest.

we did some testing with R14 and it seems to work fine now with opto shuttle (finally!)

anyway it is possible to start a system that has normally an NIU, with an IPU. it is tricky but it works!
