Does anyone know how to generate a license if you have a stand alone s8500 with g650 cabinets that is servicing 5 LSPs. This is the new CM3.1 processor ethernet option and on RFA, I am prompted to put the serial number ( normally the IPSIs ).
In the 3.1, you dont need g650. Just found out that you use the primary g700 gateway serial number and then put a "s" after the same serial number for the primary g700.
is it possible to mix G650 and G700 when PE is used? We have a customer who has S8500 and two G700s. They want to add new site with a large number of analog phones and G650 is the most suitable for this site.
of course it is possible. it was always possible to register an ipsi (and all its g650's, of course) on the s8500 processor ethernet, but it wasn't possible to register any h.248 gateway (like g700) on it before 3.1 came out.
by the way, "processor ethernet" is a nice feature. it allows you not only register g700s on it without c-lan board, it allows to remove c-lan boards at all. i mean, you can set up a processor link from cms directly to s8500, collect cdr off it, and generally do anything that required c-lan board before.
p.s. i only wonder why it took them so long. s8300 had it from the start...
I have tried mix of G650/G700 on blade server (SBS3000) which has also PE, but I didn't know that is possible also on S8500. So we can add G650 even if CM has licences with SN of G700, this is nice.
i am trying to configure this but I keep getting license error. it is looking for an ipsi registration. Does anyone have an overview on how to install this.
