My understanding is that only Avaya can do this, and only when migrating from a G3si or G3r. Supposedly you can not add a SCC or MCC to an new S8500/G650. But I may be wrong!
I had the same problem with a customer upgrade for G3si with MCC cabinet. I could not administer an MCC in the S8500.
I opened a case with Avaya and they told me that only Avaya can add an MCC (or ECSS) cabinet. Noone mentioned anything about the license file. markfinni could you please give me some more details on this ?
It's very simple,... you need to send your flashcard to a Special Software Team in US (telephone number mentioned in the doc's) and they email you the converted translations!
I just recently migrated a G3V8si ESCC to a S8500 with remote G350. When ordering a direct connect license file along with the software, a new EPN is generated with an IPSI board to replace the "A" carrier. The RFA license defaults to IP connect only for gateways which will show only choices under add cabinet of CMC, Rack mount by that default. To use a SCC cabinet, the RFA license section 43c needs to have the IP connect changed from default on to off. This will change the add cabinet screen to give you the choice of 5 cabinet, G650, single carrier. You have to have an IPSI card for direct connect to work.Next, you then have to configure the IPSI card to show its in an EPN cabinet. There are 2 methods to configure the direct connect from the S8500 to the EPN. If you are going to have multiple existing EPN locations along with G350's, then you set up the dirrect connection process both with a Lan connection as well as a direct connection from the IPSI card back to the S8500.
Translations are a charge item by Avaya at about $2,000 to bring G3Si translations over to the S8500. Starting from scatch on the S8500 may be just as fast and money in your pocket.
