This is a pretty strange one.
I boot up my G450 with my S8300 installed and the CD powered on with the 5.2 disc inside and I move through the install choices and select option number 2 whcih indicated CM Messaging and the application never loads.
I have re-loaded several times to no avail.
I am now running an upgrade and the "copy a release to the hard drive but don't install it" option did prompt for the choice to choose messaging so maybe this will work.

But has anyone run into this or I am doing something really wrong?

Wasn't this a bug way back around 3.0?

yes, I have never been able to get the CD to load properly. here is how I have been doing it, since CM 5.2 came out.

copy the CM 5.2 CD to a directory on the PC you are using for the initial setup, put it in a directory called "CM 5.2 CD" or whatever you want.

on the CD, under "PC Tools" is a TFTP server, install this on yuor PC. this is the Walusoft TFTP server, it works very well.

open the Walusoft TFTP server, and configure the outbound directory to point to the CM 5.2 directory you copied the files to.

now set an ethernet interface on yuor PC to 192.11.13.5, yuo will connect to 192.11.13.6 shortly.

Take the CM 5.2 CD, and put it in a USB drive, connect it to the S8300 processor, boot it up.

Telnet to 192.11.13.6, when you get the installtion menu, then remove the CD from the USB CDROM drive.

You will probbaly have to exit telnet, and telnet in one more time, this time, it will see no CD in the drive, and it will attempt a TFTP download from 192.11.13.5, which is your PC running the Walusoft TFTP program that has been pointed to a directory containing the CM 5.2 installation files.

It will now load just fine via TFTP.

enjoy.

I am dying to give you a star on this one Mitch but I did exactly what you said and the installation fails after about 2 minutes.
I see the TFTP server handing out files and,crash-you get an installation failure error.

Just to be clear-I opened the Cm 5.2 cd using the 'explore' option and copied everything to a folder on my C:\ drive simply called "TFTP".The contents of my TFTP folder are identical to the contents of the opened CD.

I guess the next step will be to burn the ISO image-now i am using the CD shipped to us.

Any ideas?
Does avaya have a patch available or are they denying this issue?

Burning the CM 5.2 ISO image will do you no good, I did that about 4 times, and the results where the same (failed)

You might just have a bad S8300C/D, is the other possibility.

Isn't it great having software with bugs, and then add in the possibility of a manufacturing problem with the S8300's as well.

On the TFTPServer2000, make sure you check off the following options:

under "system", "setup"

on the "outbound" tab, check "Enable Paths"

on the "options" tab, check "Allow tSize option request", and "Allow timeout option request", make sure everything else on that tab is unchecked.

Give that a shot, if that doesn't do it, then you probably have bad hardware as well :( I have had bad S8300's in the past...

I tried many ways to load this and I had no luck with the CM 5.2 disc from May 2009(15x.02.0.947.3)
However even though it was a bite more than I wanted to do I was able to load the 5.1.2 software and then using the manage software link in the maintenance web to upgrade to 5.2 and it took successfully.

Right-that is the same thing that happened to me.
My associates were able to load the next server we received the traditional way with no problems.

Maybe a bad batch of discs?

Who knows-It's Avaya.

Always a few hurdles to clear with them as Mitch so astutely noted.

Good luck.
