Hi every body,
I'm a new user of Brightstore. When I want to restore a folder or a file using restore by session, I don't know how to recognize which tapes. Each session has a serail number S/N but how to make the link with a tape.
Thanks for any help
Noor

With ARCserve you decide for yourself which names are given to tapes/media. This is done when tapes are formatted. The possibilities for this are in the job options menu. There are so many possible solutions for tape naming that you have to experiment for yourself which one to use. If you don't use the built-in rotation schemes (like GFS) or don't define tape names in the custom schemes then arcserve will name them by itself.
check the tapes in your tape drive or tape library, according to their names you can recognize which database tape name corresponds with the physical label (like a barcode).

Hope I'm a bit clear

regards

You can also do a quick erase of the tape or tapes before the backup runs and the backup session will have the date the backup was run. So, for example, I erase a tape and do a backup. The session will be 04August2004.

serial numbers are for tapes not sessions.
Merge the tape or what's faster is to run a Scan. The Job Log for he Scan will list all the sessions and the system and volume name for the session.
