I have a user that gets the following error when opening Word (or Excel):

Runtime Error
Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I've not been able to replicate the error under her login by opening multiple word documents - including the same documents she is getting the error on. This leads be to believe it's not happening often, but enough to annoy her so she keeps bugging me about it. (That or she's completely gone crazy.) :)

I've run a full repair on her office installation, and removed Adobe Reader 7 and replaced it with the current version (8.0.1 I believe).

Update to this problem:

I sat with the user and saw the error come up. It only happens when she has Publisher open. She opens a document by double clicking on the document file, Word comes up without the document showing and the error pops up instantly. When you click OK it closes word. Opening the same document in the same way without Publisher open works with no errors.
